This project consists of a multi-family, residential apartment building containing 34 one and two-bedroom apartment units. The building was once home to H.K. Porter Company, a manufacturer of compressed air locomotives. The project includes rehabilitating the existing four-story brick structure and expanding the building with new construction.
Construction is a precast elevated first level, while the upper two levels and roof are wood framing. In aiming for a LEED certification, the apartments will be well insulated, and sealed to help prevent drafts while providing a fresh air system that occupants can control. High-efficiency HVAC systems, plenty of daylight through large windows, and green building materials will also be featured.
