The Hatridge Lab located in the Old Engineering Hall building at the University of Pittsburgh underwent renovations to provide a new state-of-the-art lab space for students studying Physics and Astronomy. Inside the lab you will find a fabrication area with a custom aluminum evaporator (Plassys- Electron Beam Evaporator) for Josephson junction fabrication and a measurement area with a full suite of microwave characterization tools and dilution refrigerators.
McKim & Creed provided design of HVAC, plumbing, lab gases, fire protection, normal and emergency power, lighting, security, and data/telecom systems (MEP Systems). The design also included an arc flash study required for the project. Additionally, our team provided minor structural engineering services, which included anchor details for structural racks and small floor infill. Throughout construction, support services were provided, including shop drawings, answering RFIs and participation in construction meetings to resolve MEP field issues as required.
