David Jones
Senior Vice President - Geomatics
Mr. Jones is a seasoned Geomatics leader with a proven track record of driving innovation and delivering results. He has over three decades of experience in the survey profession and oversees McKim & Creed’s geomatics division, totaling over 400 employees. Having started as a rodman in 1986, Mr. Jones has extensive field and office experience in all aspects of surveying including hydrographic surveying. Throughout his career, he has overseen and executed a multitude of survey projects, varying in size from one-acre to thousands of acres. These projects spanned across the eastern seaboard, from Vermont to Florida, as well as the Caribbean, serving clients in the federal government, state government, and private sector. He is also a certified floodplain surveyor and a USCG OUPV Captain. As part of his duties as the Senior Vice President of Geomatics and business unit manager, Mr. Jones is responsible for quality assurance and quality control. He monitors McKim & Creed’s responsiveness and their ability to meet our commitments to our clients. Outside of his regular duties at McKim & Creed, Mr. Jones is the acting Secretary of the Council of Professional Surveyors (COPS), a coalition of surveyors within ACEC focused on helping its members with better business practices within the survey profession. Mr. Jones also serves on the Marine Technology Advisory Committee for Cape Fear Community College and President of the Southeastern Chapter of the North Carolina Society of Surveyors.
