Laurel Ridge Levee Extension and Control Structures
McKim & Creed extended the Levee to protect an additional approx. 8,500 structures along the Amite River floodplain from backwater flooding and high waters.
Fish Bayou Control Structure
The Fish Bayou Channel was obstructed by the construction of Alligator Bayou Road by the Louisiana Department of Public Works in the 1950s. Alligator Bayou Road mimics a levee, shielding high water in Bayou Manchac from the Bluff Swamp and Spanish Lake drainage basins and vice versa. This project restores the Fish Bayou Channel conveyance system and reduces flood risk for Ascension and Iberville Parish residents.
LA 73 at Henry RD Intersection Improvements & Road Widening
This project is part of the Move Ascension transportation infrastructure improvement program. Improvements include clearing & grubbing, widening of travel lanes and adding shoulders, base reconstruction, asphalt milling & overlay, installing subsurface drainage and widening out ditches for a safer route of travel
SUE, Utility Coordination
for I-69
McKim & Creed furnished SUE and utility coordination for a section of one of the highest-priority corridors in the US.
Inland Rivers Marine Terminal Container Yard Expansion
The $4.5 million expansion added 3.5 acres to the existing terminal, allowing the port to handle and hold an additional 700 containers. The project included the addition of a 17,541 S.Y. heavy duty pavement storage area adjacent to the existing storage facility and the installation of two new high mast lights. The pavement is 16” thick with double No. 9 rebar mats.
I-4 / SR535 Interchange Design Build
This project comprised a heavily traveled section of Interstate 4 and State Route 535 in Orlando, FL. McKim & Creed established secondary control and provided survey support for mobile lidar for recently repaved surfaces and high-resolution static lidar for detailed bridge surveys and geotechnical boring surveys. Subsurface utility efforts include Quality Level B utility designating and Quality Level A utility locating to help resolve potential utility conflicts.
St. Francis Parkway Extension
This project consisted of approximately 0.50 miles of a roadway extension in the City of Gonzales, which extends S. St. Francis Parkway to Darla Ave. The roadway helps provide connectivity for future commercial development, the future Heritage Crossing development, and helps relieve congestion on LA Hwy 30 and LA Hwy 44. Roadway typical section included (2) 12’ travel lanes, (2) 5’ bike lanes, concrete curb and gutter, (2) 5’sidewalks, subsurface drainage and multiple box culvert crossings. The proposed roadway crosses 2 major pipelines as well as Jurisdictional Wetlands and Other Waters of the U.S., therefore, permitting was also a major component of this project.
Semper Fi Drive
This project consisted of the construction of approximately 1,100 linear feet of new roadway between Veterans Boulevard and S. Commerce Avenue in the City of Gonzales. Roadway provides connectivity for future commercial development and existing traffic congestion on LA Hwy 30. Project included design and construction of a two-lane asphalt roadway with concrete curb & gutter, a 10’ shared use path, subsurface drainage and utility relocations.
I-275 Tampa Bay Next
McKim & Creed served as prime consultant and program manager for a 5-year, $5-million contract to provide surveying and mapping services for 31 miles as well as additional projects included within the I-275 Tampa Bay Next program.
Village Road Bridge Replacement
This project consisted of the replacement of a 5-span timber bridge crossing New River Bayou at Village Road with a 4-span concrete bridge with approach slabs in Ascension Parish. The project included the demolition plan, bridge design, scour protection, safety considerations, and approach roadway design. McKim & Creed Role: H & H, Design, Permitting, R/W Acquisition, Utility Relocation, Bidding, Construction Management including C.E.& I.
Elevated Water Tank and Water Transmission Mains
This elevated water tank project consisted of the construction of a one-million-gallon pedisphere-type potable water storage tank and approximately 13,500 linear feet of 8-, 12-, 16- and 20-inch water main, including isolation valves, fire hydrant assemblies and tie-ins.
West Lac Allemands Shoreline Protection
McKim & Creed worked to address erosion challenges along the western shoreline of Lac Des Allemands in St. John the Baptist Parish, Louisiana.
City of St. Augustine WWTP Climate Resilience Analysis
McKim & Creed conducted a climate resiliency survey and analysis to assess the vulnerability of the City’s wastewater treatment plant to flooding. We also evaluated the impact of storm surge and sea level rise on the facility today and out to the year 2100, with interim assessments at years 2030, 2050 and 2070.
